English Language Proficiency Requirements

The University of Prince Edward Island Cairo Campus (UPEI) delivers all courses in English. As such, students must demonstrate strong language proficiency for admission. Whether you are an international or local applicant, proving your language skills is crucial. This ensures you can succeed in an English-speaking academic setting.

To bypass UPEI Cairo Campus’s English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses, applicants must achieve minimum scores on recognized proficiency tests. These tests, like IELTS and TOEFL, measure your reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension skills at the required academic level. Meeting these scores allows you to participate fully in your coursework without the need for additional language support.

Students who do not meet the required scores will be enrolled in EAP courses based on their proficiency level. These courses aim to improve language skills, ensuring students are ready for academic challenges. EAP at UPEI Cairo focuses on academic writing, reading comprehension, and verbal communication. These skills are essential for success in an academic environment.

UPEI Cairo establishes these proficiency standards to ensure all students are prepared for a rigorous academic experience.
