Job Description:
The Associate Dean will be responsible for providing academic and strategic leadership within the faculty, driving growth, and fostering collaboration between the workforce and UPEI. This role involves working closely with senior administrative officers and academic staff to enhance programs both within the faculty and across the University, as well as leading the faculty’s efforts to achieve the University’s goals.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading the Faculty of Mathematical and Computational Sciences. Strategic planning, budgeting, development, implementation, evaluation, and improvement of programming across multiple disciplines and delivery modes, while capitalizing on innovative and entrepreneurial opportunities and maintaining accreditation and professional standards.
- Supervising the academic programs offered at the branch campus and guide their implementation and alignment with UPEI, Canada.
- Promoting excellence and innovation in teaching and instruction while expanding the University's educational outreach to diverse audiences.
- Determining resource priorities, preparing the budget, and representing the faculty to other divisions of the University and to external stakeholders.
- Managing administrative functions including scheduling, coordinating, evaluating, and improving curricula and programs.
- Directly supervising the development of the faculty’s departments and units, overseeing faculty and academic selection and retention processes, coordinating professional development, and conducting performance appraisals.
- Creating innovative opportunities to enhance student services and educational experiences, ensuring student satisfaction, and promoting the faculty through the enhancement of external relationships.
- Overseeing the development of an effective communications plan and student recruitment strategies.
- Evaluating overall faculty productivity, including the number and range of students served, new programming initiatives, and partnerships.
- Leading the development of an annual business plan and budget for the faculty, providing leadership to achieve the financial targets established by the plan.
- Performing other related duties as assigned by the provost.
Specifically, the successful candidate must meet the following job requirements:

Requirements:
- A Ph.D. Degree from a recognized University (Preferably Canadian or North American institutions) in computer science or a related field.
- Minimum of five years leadership/ Management experience at an Academic Administrative level at a university or college with a proven record of full-time faculty supervision.
- Working knowledge and implementation of assessment activities at the course and program levels.
- Experience in course and program review.
- 7-10 years of fulltime teaching in a university
- An earned faculty rank at the Assistant Professor level or above.
- A distinguished record of achievement in the areas of research, teaching, and service.

Required Skills and Qualifications
- A Ph.D. Degree from a recognized University (Preferably Canadian or North American institutions)

- Compassionate, positive, and professional attitude
- High level of responsibility and commitment.
- Ability to take and implement initiatives contributing to the development of the school.

Required Teaching Experience
- Statistics and probability theorems.
- Related mathematics such as calculus and linear algebra.
- Teaching business students in addition.
