Admission Requirements for the McDougall Faculty of Business
Main Faculty Requirements
Grade 12 Math, English, and any subjects chosen from Social Studies, Languages or Sciences, and one other 5th academic course; an overall average of 70% minimum.
Note: If students do not meet the required score for admission into a specific faculty, or if they need a transition program from high school to university, UPEI Cairo Campus offers a pathway. Qualified students can either register in the Gateway Program or as an Unclassified Student.
Requirements Per High School Curriculum
American Curriculum
The assessment for the American High School Diploma is based on 5 Academic courses, including the English and Math prerequisites. Courses must be studied mainly in Grade 12, satisfying the admission criteria of the requested faculty with the conditions below.
- Presentation of completed high-school diploma from a recognized academic Grade 12 program
- At least four different subjects at the matriculation level must be presented within the diploma.
- Only one course may be used for admission purposes from the Grade 11 level
- SAT, ACT, and EST scores are not required for admission but may be used for admission reference
IGCSE
The assessment for the IGCSE curriculum is based on 5 ‘O’ levels studied in Grades 10, 11, and 12, fulfilling the above-mentioned faculty requirements.
For direct entry to the program, courses need to fulfill the English and math prerequisites, with a minimum grade of “C” in Math at any level.

- Admission from Grade 11: This is for the exceptional student with at least 85% in Grades 10 and 11, who is highly recommended by the school (at least two letters), and who has written parental permission. Students with particular aptitudes who may not have 85% will also be considered.
Intenational Baccalaureate (IB)

Thanaweya Amma
The assessment for Thanaweya Amma students is based on five academic courses studied in the final high school year, ‘3rd Secondary’, including the English and Math prerequisites that satisfy the admission criteria for Business Administration admission. Specific faculty requirements below:

- The 2nd secondary math grade is required for evaluation during application submission for the Science & Literature sections.
- The overall Thanaweya Amma score earned is not a base for evaluation but may be used for admission reference.
French Baccalaureate
Baccalaureat or Diplome de Bachelier de l’Enseignement du Second Degre, where a minimum of 11/20 Terminale GPA is required for direct entry to Business Administration, satisfying the English and Math course requirements.
German Abitur
- Transcript for grades 11, 12, and 13 (university prep). Abitur/Zeugnis der Allgemeinen Hochschulreife/Reifezeugnis (Certificate of General University Maturity)
- For admission, a minimum of 9 overall in the Abitur and a minimum of 3 (befriedigend) overall in the others mentioned above are required.
Canadian Diploma
The Assessment for Canadian Diploma students depends on the High School province followed, and they must fulfill the main faculty requirements mentioned above.

Quebec | Quebec Secondary V students may be admitted with qualifying courses (Eng 516, Math 536, 534 Sciences where applicable) and an overall average of 75%. - Nile Students must complete the 12 years of schooling for admission to UPEI, Cairo Campus.
WAEC
- Transcript for grades 10, 11, and 12. Or Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results issued directly by WAEC (to be verified online).
- For WAEC, we require a minimum grade of C4 (Numerical value of 4) on the relevant required subjects assessed for the program of entry application submitted to UPEI.
Kenyan Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE)
- A minimum of C+ in the KCSE is required for admission.
Note: We accept a variety of curriculums beyond those listed above. The admissions office evaluates other certificates based on our general faculty requirements.
