Class of 2024 — UPEI Cairo Campus Graduates its Third Cohort

On Sunday, June 9th, 2024, UPEI Cairo Campus hosted its third annual convocation ceremony at its campus in the New Administrative Capital, marking a significant milestone for the Class of 2024. This event celebrated the achievements of graduates from the McDougall Faculty of Business, the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering, and the second cohort of the MBA in Global Leadership program.

The ceremony commenced with the formal procession, led by Dr. Yasmin Abdou, the Commencement Marshal, who guided the graduates through the venue and to their seats. Distinguished guests and speakers followed with inspiring addresses to the graduating class. Hon. Diane F. Griffin, Chancellor of the University of Prince Edward Island, opened the event with her remarks, followed by speeches from Dr. Ramy Sallam, President of Universities of Canada in Egypt, and H.E. Prof. Dr. Abdel Wahab Ezzat, representative of the Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. H.E. Louis Dumas, Ambassador of Canada to Egypt, also extended his congratulations to the graduates.

The ceremony spotlighted notable high achievers across the different faculties. Shakira Topouzzada, a graduate of the McDougall Faculty of Business, was awarded the prestigious President’s Cup and recognized as the highest achiever in her faculty. In the Faculty of Science, Nour Khalil Mansour was honored as the top graduate, and Fatma Nagi received the highest achievement in the Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering.

Valedictorian Omar Ebrahim delivered a reflective and motivating address on behalf of the graduates, sharing memories of their time at UPEI Cairo Campus and inspiring his fellow graduates to take on the challenges of the professional world. Alumni representative Joumana Maged encouraged graduates to remain engaged with the university community and continue their pursuit of lifelong learning.

As the event drew to a close, the graduates participated in the symbolic turning of the tassel, signifying their transition from students to alumni, followed by the highly anticipated cap toss. The celebrations continued with activations and festivities shared between graduates, their families, and friends, marking the culmination of their academic journey in a joyous and memorable atmosphere.
