On Tuesday, April 30th, UPEI Cairo Campus proudly hosted its annual Design Expo, an event dedicated to showcasing the innovative solutions of students from the Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering. This Expo serves as the culmination of the Design Clinic, providing students with the opportunity to present their work to industry professionals, faculty, and peers.
The expo not only highlights the creativity and technical expertise of the students but also bridges the gap between academia and industry by exposing students to real-world challenges and providing them with essential business skills needed to succeed in today’s market. The event facilitates networking, collaboration, and hands-on learning experiences, marking a crucial phase in the engineering education at UPEI Cairo Campus.
This year’s event featured impressive projects across all four years of the Sustainable Design Engineering program, with students tackling a variety of industry-related problems. Key winners included:
Notable individual accolades went to Youssef Zakaria, who earned the Design Clinic Bronze Medal, and Ezzat Arrafa, who won the Design Expo Silver Medal.
The event was enriched by partnerships with some of the region’s leading industrial firms, including Infinity Renewable Energy, Ezz Steel, ArcelorMittal, Solar Tec Valley, 3 Hands Company, and Sports
Show. These collaborations provided students with invaluable insights into industry needs, while giving industry leaders a glimpse of the rising talent from UPEI Cairo Campus.
The Design Expo at UPEI Cairo Campus represents a critical step in students’ journeys as engineers, blending academic rigor with real-world application. The showcase also fosters industry connections that may lead to internships, mentorships, or future job placements, further cementing UPEI’s commitment to student success and industry relevance.
As this year’s cohort demonstrated their skills and creativity, the event left attendees confident in the bright future of engineering and innovation, as fostered at UPEI Cairo Campus.
