Celebrating Global Diversity at UPEI Cairo Campus: Around the World in 3 Days

April 28th, 29th & 30th 2025

UPEI Cairo Campus recently brought the world to its campus with Around the World in 3 Days event, a vibrant celebration of culture, community, and global connection. With international students representing over 26 nationalities and making up more than 20% of the student body, the event showcased the university’s rich cultural mosaic and commitment to diversity.

Held on April 28th, 29th, and 30th, the three-day experience was a colorful journey across continents, filled with engaging activities, international guests, and immersive cultural moments.

Day One: Parade of Nations & Cultural Exhibits

The event opened with a dynamic parade featuring student delegations in traditional dress, proudly carrying their national flags. The parade included the participation of diplomats and cultural representatives, such as His Excellency Ulric Shannon, Canadian Ambassador to Egypt; Alejandro Abarca, Consul and Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of Chile; Consul Peter Oko Agyei Elswil of Ghana; Mr. Garba Ishaya, Counselor for Economic Trade and Investment at the Nigerian Embassy in Egypt; Mr. Dany Berbany, First Secretary of the Embassy of Lebanon; and Dr. Selim El Talouly, University Affairs and Student Activities Officer of the Embassy of Palestine.

Following the parade, students presented cultural booths that brought the history, traditions, and identities of their home countries to life through stories, visuals, and interactive exhibits.

Day Two: Cultural Games & African Student Day

The second day focused on intercultural exchange through traditional games, interactive competitions, and artistic performances. The campus welcomed over 100 African students from various universities in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the Egyptian University Sports Federation.

Highlights included folk performances, traditional dances, and a friendly sports match between the UPEI Cairo team and the visiting students. The day fostered a spirit of unity and mutual respect.

Day Three: International Food Festival

The highly anticipated final day, dedicated to global cuisine, was unfortunately cancelled due to unfavorable weather forecasts. While students were preparing to share authentic dishes from their home countries in a vibrant celebration of culinary diversity, the safety and comfort of the university community remained the top priority. Despite the cancellation, the spirit of cultural connection and shared experience remained strong, leaving the community looking forward to future opportunities to celebrate together.

More Than a Celebration

Around the World in 3 Days was more than just a campus event. It was a powerful reminder of the strength found in diversity. It reinforced UPEI Cairo Campus’s mission to cultivate a welcoming, inclusive environment that prepares students to thrive in a globalized world.
